World War II caused untold devastation, with somewhere between 50 and 80 million people dying and more than one hundred million people being involved worldwide. The second massive global war saw the use of more advanced technology which led to higher casualty numbers, such as the bomber aircrafts.

Prisoners used as targets



Before the start of the war, there were international laws in place that were supposed to protect prisoners of war (POWs). These were either twisted or ignored during the war. In this picture, British soldier await their deaths by the Japanese. It is generally agreed that Japan were the worst country for this behaviour.
